Recontruction of Black Wall Street Businesses Reconstruction of Greenwood
Rebuilding Greenwood was a difficult task as African Americans experienced difficulty securing the building materials needed to rebuild their decimated community. Many people had to sue the city just to get the tools they needed to rebuild their businesses and homes. White people that were sympathetic to the black residents of Greenwood were reluctant to help in many cases because of fear of backlash by the white population that did not want to see Greenwood rebuilt. However, the effort to rebuild commenced anyway, as the NAACP of New York helped to fund the reconstruction of Greenwood.
